Wolf Pack deploy to Kwangju for Max Thunder
The F-16s and personnel of the US Air Force's 8th Fighter Wing, known as the Wolf Pack, are participating in the annual Exercise Max Thunder hosted the the Republic of Korea Air Force's Kwangju Air Base. Nearly 50 combat aircraft will participate in the exercise, to be held from October 15th - 22nd.

US, South Korea to begin air defence exercise
South Korea and the United States will begin a regular air force training exercise this week. Exercise Max Thunder will involve RoKAF F-15s and F-16s from the RoKAF and USAF, and will be staged over the western airspace of the Korean Peninsula

S. Korean Air Force receives F-15Ks from 2nd order
The Air Force received its first batch of three F-15K fighter jets from Boeing yesterday under the second-phase F-X fighter acquisition program. The deliveries bring the RoKAF's current strength to 42 F-15Ks.

South Korea to delay fighter jet program
South Korea is to delay the F-X program to select a new fighter to replace the F-4D/E Phantoms and F-5E/F Tiger jets in the RoKAF inventory. Budget constraints and a realignment in priorities in the wake of the corvette Cheonan's sinking have been cited as the reasons.

ROKAF F-5F crash not caused by mechanical problems
The ROKAF investigation into a F-5F crash in the East Sea on June 18 has found no mechanical problems with the jet, and blamed the sudden onset of sea fog as the cause. It also adds that the pilots tried to eject, but that the seats failed because the aircraft was below the minimum altitude required for the seats to work.
