Defective Fuel Readings Led to Rafale loss

According to the French Defence Ministry, defective fuel readings led to the pilot electing to eject from the Rafale which crashed near the carrier Charles de Gaulle in late November. The aircraft was returning to the carrier and carried live ordnance when it crashed.

French Rafale crashes off Pakistan

An Aeronavale Rafale fighter has crashed into the Arabian Sea off Pakistan, with the pilot ejecting safely. The aircraft was operating from the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle, which is on a cruise supporting ISAF operations in Afghanistan.

Mexican An-32 crashes; 5 dead

A Mexican Air Force Antonov-32 transport has crashed at Monterrey International Airport in the northeast of the country, killing the five crew on board. The aircraft was reportedly making an emergency landing soon after take off when it crashed.

12 killed in Indian AF chopper crash

An Indian Air Force (IAF) MI-17 helicopter crashed in Arunachal Pradesh on Friday, killing all 12 persons on board. The location of the crash, in the eastern Himalayan belt is considered aviation-unfriendly, however aircraft have to operate in the area to serve personnel in the forward posts along the border with China.

USAF believes F-22 crash pilot did not survive

The USAF has announced that Capt. Jeffrey Haney, the pilot of the F-22 Raptor from the 3rd Wing of Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson which crashed two days ago, has been killed in the crash. A recovery team at the crash site found a part of the ejection seat, along with several life support items that Captain Haney wore during the flight.

Russian MiG-31 crashes; pilots eject

A Russian Air Force MiG-31 Foxhound interceptor has crashed in the Urals, but the pilots ejected safely. The Defense Ministry has grounded all MiG-31s following the crash.

Another Canadian Hornet crashes; pilot safe

A Canadian CF-18 Hornet fighter jet has crashed in a field northwest of CFB Cold Lake, Canada. The pilot succssfully eejcted. This is the second crash of a CF-18 this year, following one at an airshow practice in July.

F-16I crashes in southern Israel; crew missing

An Israeli Air Force two-seater F-16I airplane crashed late Wednesday evening during training in the south of Israel. The pilot and navigator have been described as missing, and the Israeli Defense Force personnel are searching for the crew.

MiGs crash in India; Yemen

A Yemeni MiG-21 Fishbed has reportedly crashed on a training mission on the country's Red Sea Coast. The pilot survived the crash.

Meanwhile another Indian Air Force MiG-27 Flogger has crashed in western India with the pilot ejecting safely. This is the fourth crash of a MiG-27 in India this year.

Darfur rebels claim to have shot down Sudanese MiG

Darfur rebels have claimed to have shot down a MiG-29 belonging to the Sudanese Air Force. The jet was reportedly shot down near the town of Majrur in the state of North Kordofan. The Sudanese military has not commented on the report.

Romania halts MiG-21 training flights after fatal crash

After a crash which killed two pilots on the 1st of November, the Romanian Air Force has halted all training flights by its fleet of MiG-21s. Romania operates an active fleet of approximately 70 upgraded MiG-21 Lancers.

Canadian Forces release Hornet crash report

The Canadian Armed Forces have released an initial report on the crash of an RCAF CF-18A Hornet during an airshow practice in July. An unexplained loss of thrust in the starboard engine was the primary factor and further investigation will try to determine the root cause.
