RAAF prefers the C-27J over the C295

In not-so-surprising news, it has been revealed that the Royal Australian Air Force has a preference for the Alenia C-27J over the Airbus Military C295 to meet its requirement for a tactical transport to replace the retired de Havilland Canada DHC-4 Caribou.

Airbus Military and Elta Systems Introduce CN295 AEW&C

Airbus Military and IAI/Elta Systems announced the joint development of an Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) system based on the Airbus Military/CASA C295 medium transport. The aircraft will be equipped with a rotating 4th generation Elta Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar and a C295 demonstrator fitted with a rotodome is already conducting flight trials from Airbus’ Seville facility. The companies have signed of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the 2011 Paris Air Show.

Chile takes delivery of first ASW-configured C295

The Chilean Navy has taken delivery of the first Airbus Military C295 in its anti-submarine warfare (ASW) configuration. The C295 ASW is based on the Maritime Patrol (MPA) configuration of the C295 multirole aircraft.

Airbus plans 28 military deliveries in 2011, including first A330 MRTTs

Airbus Military is targeting 28 military aircraft deliveries in 2011 including the first six KC-330 tanker transports. However the first handover of the KC-30A tanker to lead-customer, the Royal Australian Air Force, has still not been set. The company also expects to deliver 22 smaller transports, the C-295 and CN-235, this year

Egypt orders three Airbus Military C295 aircraft

The Egyptian Air Force has signed a contract to acquire three C295 aircraft from Airbus Military. The aircraft are to be delivered from 2011 and will be used to increase the Egyptian Air Force’s capacity in tactical and logistic transport.
