USAF JSTARS deployed as N Korea moves SAMs near DMZ
With tensions still high following North Korea's shelling of a South Korean island last week, the USAF has deployed the E-8C Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System (JSTARS) to monitor North Korea’s military activities. Meanwhile North Korea has reportedly deployed SA-2 Guideline (S-75 Dvina) surface-to-air missiles near the Demilitarised Zone between North and South Korea.

Media visits Ex Invincible Spirit
The media has been granted unprecedented access to Exercise Invincible Spirit currently being held in the skies and waters around South Korea, with a tour of F-22s on TDY at Osan Airbase as well as a visit to the USS George Washington in the East Sea.

100721-N-2013O-422 BUSAN, Republic of Korea (July 21, 2010) Tugboats move the aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73) to a pier in Busan, Republic of Korea. This is the first port visit for George Washington during its 2010 summer patrol in the western Pacific Ocean and the second visit to Busan by the ship since October 2008. The Republic of Korea and the United States will conduct a combined alliance maritime and air readiness exercise "Invincible Spirit" in the seas east of the Korean peninsula from July 25-28, 2010. This is the first in a series of joint military exercises that will occur over the coming months in the East and West Seas. U.S.-Korean Defense Leaders Announce Exercise Invincible Spirit
The US Department of Defense has announced Exercise Invincible Spirit between the US and the Republic of Korea. It has also confirmed that F-22 Raptors will be taking part in the exercise.

USS George Washington to Visit Republic of Korea
The US Department of Defence has announced that the aircraft carrier USS George Washington will visit the port of Busan in South Korea with 3 destroyers of her strike group.

F-22 likely to join military drills with S. Korea
The South Korean news agency Yonhap is reporting that USAF F-22s are likely to take part in joint exercises in the waters off South Korea.
