C-17 crashes in Alaska

Several news outlets are reporting that a USAF C-17 Globemaster III transport has crashed at Elmendorf Airbase in Alaska while on a training flight. Four crew were on board and it is believed that they were practicing for the upcoming Arctic Thunder airshow.

UPDATE (29/07/2010 2130): Aviationweek has a blog out saying that despite several Class A accidents, this is the first C-17 write-off and and (it seems) accident with fatalities on board.

UPDATE 2 (30/07/2010 0915): The USAF has confirmed that all four crewmembers did not survive the crash.
