F-16s scramble and evacuation ordered over Washington

A passenger plane briefly lost radio contact with air traffic controllers as it approached Washington, leading to F-16s being scrambled from Andrews Air Force base and the evacuation of the U.S. Capitol. The Piedmont Airlines pilot had turned the radio to the wrong frequency as he prepared for landing.
