VMFA(AW)-533 splits force, accomplishes two missions

Part of Marine All-Weather Fighter Attack Squadron 533, or VMFA(AW)-533 has deployed at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii in support of Lava Viper 11-1. Meanwhile, six other jets from the Hawks advanced to Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan in support of the Unit Deployment Program (UDP). The UDP allows Marine units to deploy throughout the Western Pacific on six-month rotations.
