India has no plans to join F-35 program

India has reportedly no plans to either join the US-led joint strike fighter (JSF) programme or buy the F-35. This comes in the wake of comments made by a top Pentagon official that the US was open to Indian participation in the JSF project. India has already signed a preliminary design contract with Russia to develop a fifth-generation fighter aircraft.
