Congress votes to kill GE/RR F136 alternate JSF engine

In a surprising move, the US House of Representatives has voted to kill the General Electric/Rolls Royce F136 engine program for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. The House voted 233-198 to remove $450 million funding for the F136, ending a program the House had long funded despite opposition from the Bush and Obama Administrations.
