Marines declare AH-1Z Cobra operational

Ahead of schedule, Naval Air Systems Command has declared that the Marine Corps' AH-1Z Cobra helicopter gunship has achieved Initial Operating Capability. The The AH-1Z will serve a primary role in assault support, offensive air support and air reconnaissance in support of Marine operations.
