Super Hornet, JSF and Typhoon in the running for Japan's next fighter

After lengthy delays, the list of potential replacements for Japan's next-generation fighter has been whittled down to the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, F-35 Joint Strike Fighter the Eurofighter Typhoon. The winning F-X project candidate will replace the Japan Air Self-Defense Force's F-4EJ Kai Phantoms from 2015.
