JASDF F-15J veers off Okinawa runway during aborted scramble

Japan Security Watch has reported that a Japan Air Self-Defense Force F-15J Eagle interceptor has veered off the runway at Okinawa's Naha Airport. According to Japanese media reports, the incident happened soon after the F-15J's scramble order was rescinded just as the aircraft was rolling down the runway. It is not clear if the cancellation of the orders caused the incident.

According to Japan's Ministry of Defense, the scramble mission was unrelated to the death of North Korean leader Kim Jong-il, but has not stated the actual reason for the scramble.
